Is your house on fire ? "
Defense lawyer Steven Hinkson asked Daniel Kleinsteuber in Tuesday's arson case.
"No, I don't," he replied.
Kleinsteuber said the fire could have been caused by a stove filter that had caught fire before.

The police got a call.
Prosecutors say Kleinsteuber told them the bird said there would be a fire.

Kleinsteuber said he took the bird to a friend's house because it kept calling, probably because smoke from the fire in the backyard fire pit entered the house.
He said he left some doors in order to facilitate the removal of his property.

Kleinsteuber said he was frustrated that she didn't help move things.

Kleinsteuber testified that the cause of the fire may have to do with leaning against the old filter on the stove.
He said he saw it on fire and shook-
Near the closet
"My impression is that everything is over," he said . "
Marple asked, since he had a pile of clothes in his hand, why didn't he put out the filter fire with his feet.

Kleinsteuber said he put the filter in the closet in the basement, put it there for a few minutes, and then took it to the fire pit where he had been burning documents, wood and building materials.
The morning after the fire, Kleinsteuber made a statement to the police that did not mention putting the filter in the closet.
He testified that he did not think it would cause a fire at the time.
"I didn't think directly that morning.
Marple said he did not mention it because it had never happened.
"I don't agree," he said . "
Kleinsteuber said he put the documents in a banker's box and burned them in a pit before he saw the filter on fire.
He said that when he noticed that the filter was on fire, he also saw a corner of the box burned.
His lawyer asked him if he could set fire in a drunken rage.
