gas grills 34,000 barbecues recalled in Canada for fire hazard

Canadian Standards Association International andBrampton, Ont.-Carnival-based barbebarbe is recalling about 34,000 Chinese-made Blue Ember Gas Grills because they pose a fire and burn hazard to users."The barbecue may be improperly assembled, exposing the burner hose to an over-heated environment, and may cause fire and burn hazards to users," CSA said in a press release ."."Carnival has received 16 reports of barbecue fires in Canada that may have been caused by burner hoses placed behind the heat shield."There are no reports of injuries.The recall has had an impact on outdoor barbecues, with models sold from November 2007 to June 2008 being f50057 and f50069.The consumer should check the barbecue to ensure that the burner hose is not installed behind the heat shield.If the hose is not placed properly, the consumer can be at (866) 956-0396.
