A new study found that transgender preschool children are not more confident about their gender than their peers.
Their possibilities are non-
Transgender children say they have the same gender as preschool children in adulthood.
"These new findings suggest that, for example, transgender girls believe that they will become women when they grow up, just as other girls believe that they will become women when they grow up, says Kristina Olsen, a senior author at the University of Washington in Seattle.
"The same is true for transgender boys.
Our team is equally confident in their future gender stability.
"Transgender people are inconsistent with the gender assigned to them at birth.
People with female anatomy can be identified as male and vice versa.
Sometimes people don't agree with any kind of gender.
The person whose gender identity matches the anatomy is called cisgender.
Olsen and her colleagues wrote in the journal Children's Development
Author Anne Fast cited a previous study in New Zealand estimated to be about 1.
2% of people are transgender.
A previous study by Olsen found that gender and gender of cisgender primary school students
Milestones related to similar speeds.
The new study is aimed primarily at preschool children.
The researchers interviewed children aged 3 to 5, including 36 transgender people, cisgender of 24 transgender brothers and sisters, and cisgender children of 36 non-transgender brothers and sisters.
In addition to observing the children's wear, the researchers also asked how they thought they were adults, what they thought about the sex of the adult or child in the photo, what toys they wanted to play, one of the people in the photo is their friend.
In general, the responses of transgender children are similar to those of their gender peers.
For example, children who are considered male are likely to be attracted to objects of men in the stereotype, such as Orange tool sets or red barbecue sets.
At the same time, children considered to be girls are attracted to rigid female objects such as pink and shiny skirts.
When asked about the gender of their babies, trans-sex children do differ from their cisgender peers.
For example, a transgender child identified as a woman would say she was a boy, while a cisgender preschool child identified as a woman would say she was a baby.
Olsen's team did not know why the gender of transgender children in infancy was different from that of preschool children.
Orson said in an email that the children may be imitating the news they have heard from adults about their birth.
"They may also hear the question of how people used to treat them, not how they treat them now," Olsen added . ".
"In order to figure out exactly what is going on here, it is necessary to do more research.
"New research shows that transgender children show the same developmental gender profile as non-transgender children," she said.
"So, as we have done in the past, this paper shows that from a gender perspective determined by children, these
"Transgender children look the same as most other children," Olsen said . ". SOURCE: bit.
