In this Instructure I will show how to make one of the most delicious desserts for outdoor cooking and camping desserts.Dutch oven apple CobblerThis is great for the first time anyone cooking outdoors with a cast iron cooker.Explore and experiment outside the comfort zone.I was shopping at a warehouse store about 10 years ago and found a set of Wenzel cast iron cookware for $35.I don't know how I'm going to use it, but knowing that I love outdoor activities, I don't think I can give up the deal. Before I finally got the chance and the courage to use it, it stayed in my garage for about a year. Before buying this set, most of my outdoor cooking was a hot dog on a burger and grill. This recipe has raised my level of cooking to another level. Finally, I opened it and found some recipes that came with the kit.I chose the simplest one and tried it.I have lost the recipe since then, but I believe it is...Before you cook...Season new cookware if you are the first user of cast iron cookware, be sure to read the manufacturer's instructions on seasoning cookware before using the cooker.Just wanted to let you know that there is some preparation for the cooker before using it.This is a note I found that can help you with how to make a cast iron cooker.I highly recommend that you season on an outdoor gas grill instead of in-room oven.Let the smoke burn off the oil.For this instructable, I used the following method.Modify or improvise with your convenient tool as you need it.You need a fire source. You may be able to do this on open fire or even on a gas grill, which I always do on charcoal. In addition to butter, these ingredients are easy to pack and go camping without the need for refrigeration.Cooking oil can be used instead of butter when camping. This recipe will provide 8-10 people depending on the size of the service.Note: This recipe is very rich.Lots of sugar!!If you want to make it less abundant then take the time to go nuclear, peel and slice fresh apples.Grandma Smith's apples are very good. This is the type of fire I have been using.I think people can also cook on open-air firewood with hot coal. While this is an outdoor cooking guide, it's easier to work with my 7 year old assistant in the comfort of our kitchen.:-)Again...Do not mix ingredients. My assistant is getting ready to find a big spoon and start making it.On the last layer, add a small amount of cinnamon. My assistant's suggestion is that it's a long way to go.Add the lid to the oven and bring it to the burning fire outdoors.Basically, you have created an outdoor oven by applying fire to the bottom and top of the cooker.According to the heat of your fire, your cobbler should be at 45-90 minutes. The taste of apples and cinnamon will indicate that your dessert may be ready.Check your masterpiece in about an hour!If the Apple and brown sugar bubbling in the cake mixture, it can be served and enjoyed. The side of the vanilla ice cream helps to enrich the richness of this gorgeous mixture. Some people like to put ice cream on their side...I love my top as it melts on the steaming apple cobbler! This recipe can be provided easily 8-10 people depending on the size of the service. Our portions are quite free this evening! We like it very much.Enjoy! This is our home. Please share your ideas and vote for outdoor cooking if you wish.
