How to Make an Oil Drum BBQ Smoker - charcoal barbecues for sale
This is a step-by-step guide on how to build homemade Oil Barrel BBQ smokers from scratch!!I created this one night with my friend Darren. This is a great, relatively cheap project that will make you happy all summer and even winter.!This oil barrel BBQ is always lit at each party and actually becomes a very important part and has received a lot of attention!!As you will find out, this BBQ smoker also fits into it, in addition to cooking burgers and sausages, when slowly cooking large pieces of meat!Lamb, belly, beef ribs, ribs, and even a lovely slow-cooked shoulder for a whole pot of curry! No matter what joint you decide, wrapping it with foil will protect it from fire and keep it soft and juicy!Happy building!I look forward to seeing your work!I have actually started making these oil barrel barbecues and similar barbecues for sale after interest. They are custom made and can be ordered by email via my websitewww.Philadelphia design companycom. If you say you saw this on instructures, I will give you a 5% discount!!I have a mix of other BBQ designs I created and previous teaching on my website!I am currently working on a new minimalist ballpoint pen and stylus, please visit: www.529studio.co.Ukor follows me on instagram @ 529 studioAll, below is a list of the tools and materials you need to complete this project.Keep in mind that safety is very important.Wear appropriate safety equipment at all times when using metal manufacturing.1.MIG welding wire, mask, gloves 2.Angle mill cutting plate, sand plate, grinding plate s3.Hammer4.Hacksaw5.Engineer Square6.Ruler7.Tape Measure8.Permanent Pen9.Drill10.Choice of drill bit.An old oil bucket.High temperature resistant barbecue paint13.Steel Hinges14.Coach Luo hook15.Barbecue temperature dial16.Safety glasses and gloves.Section 18 of steel box.6mm carbon steel round bar19.Section U security edging20.21 steel plates.Stainless Steel Grill or stainless steel mes22.Nuts and bolts for hinges and frames 23.Chimney24for large steel pipes.Dust/painting of Mask25.Before doing any work on the oil drums, it's definitely worth checking what's inside! If there is any flammable liquid in it, please be very careful as these liquids may ignite when grinding!I would suggest you check with someone if you are not sure!Any remaining liquid needs to be treated accordingly. For this stage, you need the paint removal tray of the angle grinder. You can also use the brush attachment on the drill bit, but I found that the angle grinder can remove it faster! It is a good idea to wear a dust mask/paint mask at this stage as it becomes Dusty!Place the oil barrel in a stable position and start removing the paint. It's worth taking the extra time to make sure all the paint is removed, otherwise this will start to bubble when heated and destroy the final paint surface!Cut the large diameter (70mm) steel pipe at 45 degrees and weld it together. It is important to make sure that the welds are all the way around the chimney to prevent smoke from escaping from the seams.I used the Clark nmig welder.Make sure to wear appropriate safety devices when weldingGloves and masksMarked Quarter-Cut the lid using the engineer square, ruler and permanent pen.Use an angle grinder with a cutting disc to carefully cut along a straight line.It is a good idea to put the oil barrel on something stable to prevent the oil barrel from rolling when cutting.Welded on some thin strip low carbon steel plates, oil drums. This will create a lap joint that will prevent the lid from falling inside when closed. It will also increase the rigidity of the cover, keeping the shape of the bend. The welder will nail in place every inch or so.This stage is not so gorgeous, but it is absolutely necessary. You need to clean the inside of the oil barrel to make sure all the oil slag is cleared. There are two reasons for doing this: 1.If there is oil residue, the paint will not stick.2.If there is oil in it, the barbecue will emit a lot of thick black smoke.I have tried a lot of ways to remove this oil.I tried to burn it off (it didn't actually work, leaving a big black mess that was harder to clean up )!The best way is to use de-You may be useful in the cupboard to clean up the cleaning agent for the oven! This is very effective for oil removal! This is a foldable frame consisting of two rectangles that fold each other. The size of this frame is entirely up to you, depending on how much oil barrel you have.Use a hacksaw to cut out the steel box parts of all kinds of lengths you need. While welding the two rectangles, please continue to check with the engineer square to ensure that the right angle joint is completely square.Mark the center of the side part of each leg. This will be the point of the frame hinge.Center punch mark, then drill with a small bit to reach the size required for the Bolt. When the two parts of the frame are connected together, the frame needs to be positioned in the correct position so that the oil barrel stays at the top.At this point in time, there is nothing to stop the frame from falling flat.I tied two ropes in the upper half of the frame to prevent the frame from falling flat.4 bars need to be welded to the frame above and below the hinge. When opened, this will form a bottom sticking mechanism to hold the frame at the right angle. It folds flat when the frame is closed. The hinge needs to be placed on the oil barrel and the holes are marked using a permanent pen. Before marking the hinge, it is critical to ensure that the lid is in the correct position.Punch holes in the center, then drill holes with a small hole first and then with the correct size.Connect the hinge to the oil barrel using nuts and bolts. The U section safety edge needs to be fixed in place on the sharp straight edge of the lid and oil barrel. It's a good idea to pin it inside to hide the weld. The handle is made of steel square section.Handle is first welded as subAssemble, then weld to the cover in the middle.Make sure to remove all debris generated when cutting steel. The main Grill and the smoker grill are supported by steel bars that extend all the way to the inside of the grill. Then form the external handle on both sides. The steel bar is welded in place, and then the steel bar is welded together to form a handle. When locating the rod, make sure that the hole is in exactly the same position on both sides of the oil barrel.Three small hooks were welded on the side to form a small bracket for the barbecue tool.Drill a large hole at the bottom of both sides of the oil barrel to form a ventilation hole. Many small holes were drilled in the middle of the barbecue to form a drainage hole.A hole was drilled in the lid of the temperature dial. The Chrome coach hook is placed on the lid, marked and then drilled. The small nut and bolts fix it in the appropriate position. For this section you can either buy a grill with the correct size or make a grill.Either way, you want to make sure the stainless steel is used because you don't want rust in the food!It was one of the things that shocked me when I started watching my competitor's Oil Barrel barbecue --Many of them use soft steel on the grill!I make all my barbecues in stainless steel for parts that come into contact with food! The picture shows a stainless steel mesh with a safe edge, which will form a custom grill when welding is in place.Congrats on the completion of your oil barrel BBQ smoker!!If you don't like to do it yourself and just want to use one, they are sold here: www.Philadelphia design companyComI is looking forward to seeing the barbecue photos you guys made! Thanks for reading!
