Air Force Major Andre McDonald is a suspect in the disappearance of his 29-year-old wife Andre Nicol, who authorities believe has died and was charged with the case on Sunday.
McDonald's, 40, was booked for tampering with the evidence because he tore off a receipt for the purchase of a shovel, axe, and investigators thought he intended to process her body with gas and other materials.
"I love my daughter.
I love my family.
That's it, "McDonald said Sunday afternoon, when a representative took him to the Bexar County judicial admissions center.
A representative of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office has detained him on Saturday for a mental assessment by the Air Force.
They did not call McDonald's a suspect until Sunday afternoon, although they said there were signs of a murder and he did not cooperate with the search.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said after developing more information at McDonald's house on Saturday night that a second search warrant for the house had been obtained.
"We found something very disturbing," Salazar said . "
The evidence includes a shovel, an axe, some heavy garbage bags, some working gloves and two 5-
A gallon of gas.
They also found a portable burn bucket, he said.
The items found at home led investigators to believe the tools would be used to dispose of the bodies, Salazar said.
"We believe Andre McDonald is no longer there," Salazar said . ".
It is reported that Andreen McDonald, the local business owner, disappeared on Friday and her friend said she had never appeared in a gym or workplace.
Salazar told reporters Saturday morning that it was a case of disappearance marked by "very suspicious circumstances.
"There is no sign of her anywhere," Salazar said . " Her husband refused to speak to his deputy who initially questioned him on Friday, claiming his rights and retaining a lawyer.
According to salacha, receipts that investigators later found at McDonald's home showed items found earlier on Saturday had been purchased.
"The effort to destroy the receipt is quite large, trying to prevent us from seeing where it was purchased and when it was purchased," Salazar said . ".
"This led us to get an arrest warrant for Andre McDonald for tampering with the evidence. "The couple's 6-year-
A relative is taking care of his daughter.
The little girl is autistic, mostly non-verbal.
It was obvious to us that she saw something.
"She saw what happened to her mother, which is the most heartbreaking part of the case," Salazar said . ".
