Police: Man kills son, 6, self with grills in bedroom - charcoal grills
DERRY, N. H. —
A man killed his 6-year-
Authorities said on Tuesday that the old son and himself put two charcoal grills in the bedroom and closed the door with tape and blankets.
Police officers carrying out welfare checks encountered a warning signal of carbon monoxide at home.
Attorney General Gordon McDonald said 39-year-old Matthew Edmonds and his son Preston Connor Edmonds were found at their home in Delhi on Monday.
Police received a phone call from edmunds on Monday.
The worker asked them to check him because he did not go to work.
MacDonald said a sign hung on the ceiling fan in the living room saying the police would "find me and my son" in the bedroom and realize "dangerous carbon monoxide levels ".
The autopsy confirmed two deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the death.
Senior assistant lawyer Benjamin Agati said Matthew Edmonds was separated from his wife, but he did not know how long it was.
"This is what we are going to dig and try to find more, which helps us answer his motives," Agati said . ".
