The Right Temperatures for BBQ Grilling a Steak: Rare, Medium and Well-Done - grill for bbq
You are going to put a steak on the grill.
You can carry a thermometer with you to check the temperature of the grill and the temperature of the steak.
But what is the proper temperature for your steak?
The answer depends on two things: the thickness of the steak and how well you want it to be done.
The thickness of the steak affects the temperature of the grill.
Roast the steak well, and the temperature of the grill is correct.
Many people just try to make sure their Grill is around 400 degrees.
It doesn't matter if you're looking for a normal one.
However, you want to be more specific than this if you really want to roast the steak.
The thicker steak will cook better at a lower temperature, while the thinner steak can be cooked at a high temperature.
This seems counter-intuitive to some (
Because you will think you need hotter heat to cook thicker steaks)
But this is the case.
Measure the thickness of the steak before grilling.
If it is 1/4 thick or thicker then you want to set the grill to low temperature.
About 325 of the temperature-
The thick steak is 350 degrees.
This is the temperature on the surface of the grill.
The other two indicators you can use to make sure the temperature is correct are the manual count check and the appearance of the coal.
Hand count check means you really put your hands on the grill height and calculate how many seconds it takes before it's too hot to keep your hands there.
A thick steak should have a five-second hand count.
When you look at the coal from the grill, they should be medium
The temperature is low and there is a thick gray layer on it.
What if you're not making such a thick steak?
Medium steak (3/4 -
Thickness 1 inch)
The surface temperature of the grill should be between 360 and 400 degrees.
The number of hands should be four seconds, the coal should be medium temperature, with a gray layer of ash on it.
If you're making a thin steak (
About 1/2 thickness)
And then you want a 425 degree grill.
450 degrees, three degrees
Second hand count, middle-
There is not much hot coal from ashes.
The temperature of the steak determines how well the steak is done.
The temperature of the grill is important for cooking the steak correctly, but it can't tell you if the steak is well done, medium or rare.
To be sure of this, you need to check the temperature of the steak grill.
If you want a rare steak, then when you remove it from the grill, you will want the temperature to be around 130 degrees. (
Please note that the temperature will continue to rise about five degrees as all steaks are removed from the grill. )
The temperature of medium steak is about 155 degrees. And a well-
The temperature of cooked steak is about 165 degrees.
As you can guess, cook a very thick steak at a low temperature on the grill until it does a good job, much longer than the rare steak you want.
This is why there is no specific barbecue time for BBQ teak;
Instead, you want to rely on the temperature to give you the most accurate information to bake a piece of red meat perfectly.
